Are you new to diet and training? Here’s what you need to do.

  1. Find a good local gym. The university gym should be convenient, offer cheap membership, and have sufficient equipment.
  2. Budget your weekly food shopping and supplement purchases. Don’t forget to allow for nights out and other expenses, but plan out what you will be eating in advance.
  3. Plan out your meals. Make sure you’re cooking your own meals according to your requirements. Don’t rely on cafeterias or fast food chains.
  4. Structure your training to fit around your schedule. Stick to a solid template like the Propane Protocol, and be consistent.
  5. Learn how to lift. Compound lifts like squats, deadlifts, overhead press, and bench, are safe movements if performed correctly. Make sure you learn the correct technique. Gym etiquette is important too, don’t be the guy that leaves dumbbells and plates all over the floor.
